Training and Support
Support, Advice and Training for Teachers
The implementation of the revised curriculum is to be phased in gradually from 2007. It is PMB’s intention to commence the roll-out of the support programme from September 2006 and to make professional development consistent for all teachers across Northern Ireland. Each teacher will have up to four additional non-contact days for planning and training.
CASS will be providing support programmes and learning resources. Support packs and resources will be made available directly to schools by CCEA as well as a DVD outlining the main areas of change.
In addition, teachers will have the opportunity to take part in focused professional development programmes built around the key components of the revised curriculum as listed in the Big Picture diagrams. The support programmes will provide practical ideas, strategies and resources that are all about making teaching and learning more relevant, enjoyable and exciting.
