2002/2003
Consultation on proposals for revised curriculum and assessment arrangements leading to further work on proposed Foundation Stage and on the Key Stage 3 proposals.
2003/2004
CCEA submit recommendations for the revised curriculum and assessment arrangements to the Minister for Education.
June 2004
The Minister for Education accepts CCEA’ s recommendations for the latter part of Key Stage 1 and Key Stages 2 - 4.
April 2005
CCEA submit further recommendations to the Minister for Education, for a Foundation Stage curriculum. These are incorporated in to the draft legislation and published in December 2005 for consultation.
September 2005
The Permanent Secretary of the Department of Education launches the awareness-raising conference for education partners about the revised curriculum and assessment arrangements.
November /December 2005
The conferences for head teachers and senior colleagues from the post-primary sector take place – these are known as “Leading Learning Conferences”. The primary sector conferences will take place from January to March 2006.
January 2006
Every teacher in Northern Ireland receives Linked, the first edition of PMB’s newsletter.
September 2006
New legislation provides more flexibility at Key Stage 4 – formal disapplication no longer required.
Support programme for the revised curriculum begins.
September 2007
The phased introduction of the revised curriculum begins.
