Assessment for Learning
What is Assessment for Learning
The revised Northern Ireland curriculum embraces the principles of Assessment for Learning (AfL) and puts them at the heart of the learning and teaching process in both primary and post-primary schools. Assessment for Learning will feature heavily in the training for the revised curriculum during this school year.
The Assessment for Learning Action Research Project has been running since Spring 2004. This project involves over 50 schools in Northern Ireland and encourages the development of formative assessment strategies. We have asked a few people who have been involved in this project to share their experiences and pass on some of the lessons they’ve learned about AfL to you.
